Questions for Growth Groups and Personal Reflection
Read 2 Samuel 2:12 - 3:39
As you read the passage or listened to the sermon, what stood out to you or stayed with you?
1. Resisting the Kingdom by Force (2:12-32)
Where do you see the same Abner-like instinct in yourself — knowing what God has said, yet resisting it because you want to stay in control?
What is one area of life where you are still fighting a battle you cannot win, instead of submitting to Jesus’ good rule?
2. Seeking the Kingdom for Selfish Gain (2 Samuel 3:1-21)
In what ways can serving in church become more about being noticed than about honouring Christ?
What helps you check your motives so that you serve Jesus rather than your own reputation?
3. Undermining the Kingdom by Revenge and Envy (vv.22-39)
Where are you most tempted to compare yourself with others or feel threatened by their gifts or opportunities?
How might envy or self-protection show itself subtly in your relationships, and what would it look like to choose Christlike humility instead?
Spend some time praying about the above.
