Read Colossians 1:1-14
As you read the passage or listened to the sermon, what stood out to you, challenged you or stayed with you?
1. Thanksgiving for Gospel News (vv.1–8)
Paul is giving thanks for signs in the Colossians that show they are genuine believers. How does this encourage or challenge you?
What is the relationship between faith, love, and hope in verse 5? How does hope laid up in heaven help us grow in faith and love today?
Where do you see the power of God’s word bearing fruit in people’s lives (v. 6)? Where do you long to see that fruit more clearly?
In what ways can you learn from the example of Epaphras (v. 7)? Who could you be “an Epaphras” to this month?
What might be one small step you could take this week?
2. Prayer for Gospel Growth (vv.9-14)
Why do you think each of the things Paul prays for in these verses is so important?
What’s missing from your usual prayers that Paul includes in his? What one thing from Paul’s prayer could you begin praying regularly for yourself or others?
Which of the phrases in verses 12–14 particularly thrills or comforts you today? How might remembering these truths shape your attitude this week?
