Colossians 2:1-7 QUESTIONS
Questions for Growth Groups and Personal Reflection
Read Colossians 2:1-7
As you read the passage or listened to the sermon, what stood out to you, challenged you or stayed with you?
1. Paul’s Commitment (2:1)
What strikes you about Paul’s care for believers he had never met? (2:1)
How have you personally been encouraged by Paul’s ministry?
How can Paul’s two struggles (teaching and prayer) in 1:3, 9 and 2:1-2 shape the way we care for other Christians today?
2. Paul’s Purpose (2:2-5, cf 1:28)
According to Colossians 2:2–3, what does Paul want Christians to grasp about Christ, and why is that so important for their growth?
In what ways do you see modern versions of the “Christ plus” or “Christ minus” message Paul warns about in verse 4, and how does knowing Christ’s sufficiency help us resist them?
3. Paul’s Command (2:6-7)
According to Colossians 2:6–7, what does it practically mean to “continue to live in him” and be “rooted and built up in him”?
What helps you keep growing deeper into Christ rather than drifting or looking for “something more”?
4. A Hallmark of Life in Christ (2:7b)
What does “overflowing with thankfulness” in Colossians 2:7 look like in real Christian experience, and why do you think Paul makes it a hallmark of spiritual health?
How have you seen thankfulness rise in your own life, or in the life of someone else, even during hardship or sorrow?
Spend some time praying about the above.
