Questions for Growth Groups and Personal Reflection
Read 2 Samuel 2:1-11
As you read the passage or listened to the sermon, what stood out to you
or stayed with you?
1. The Kingdom starts under God’s guidance (v.1)
Where in your life are you most tempted to act first and pray later?
What helps you slow down enough to genuinely seek God’s guidance? And what makes that difficult for you?
2. God’s kingdom begins small but is real (2 Samuel 2:2–4a)
Where do you most feel the smallness or hiddenness of God’s kingdom in your own life or church experience?
How does remembering that Jesus already reigns reshape the way you view those small or ordinary places?
3. God’s kingdom advances through gracious appeal (2 Samuel 2:4b–7)
When you think about the way Jesus has drawn you to Himself, what aspects of His gentleness or kindness have most shaped your faith?
What helps you speak about Jesus with the same kindness and gentleness that He shows? And what tends to get in the way?
4. God’s kingdom faces stubborn opposition (2 Samuel 2:8–11)
Where do you see rival ‘kingdoms’ competing with Christ’s rule in your own life or in the world around you?
How does knowing that Christ’s kingdom will ultimately stand encourage you when opposition feels strong or discouraging?
Spend some time praying about the above.
