Questions for Growth Groups and Personal Reflection
Read 2 Samuel 4:1-12
As you read the passage or listened to the sermon, what stood out to you or stayed with you?
1. Seeing the Real Beneath the Veneer (vv. 1–7)
Can you think of other places in Scripture where sarcasm is used to peel back appearances and reveal the truth?
In what ways does our social-media culture make it harder for us to see reality clearly, and how can we help one another grow in godly discernment?
2. Using God-talk as a Cover for Evil (v. 8)
Why do you think it is so easy for Christians to use spiritual language to avoid repentance, and where might that temptation show up in your own heart?
How can we create a church culture where gentle correction is welcomed rather than shut down with religious phrases?
3. Remembering God’s Goodness Nurtures Faithfulness (v. 9)
When you look back over your life, what specific examples of God’s goodness help you trust Him in the present?
How might regularly recalling God’s past faithfulness strengthen you to resist shortcuts or compromises today?
4. The King’s Justice Encourages Hope (vv. 10–12)
Where do you most long to see Christ’s justice in your own life or in the world, and how does this passage help you wait with hope?
How does knowing that Jesus will bring perfect justice free you from taking matters into your own hands?
Spend some time praying about the above.
