Re-Read Philippians 4:1-9
Did anything strike you from this passage or talk?
Unity (vv.2–3)
• How will living the truths of 2:1–11 help foster unity and harmony between believers?
• What does “agree with each other in the Lord” mean?
• Who can we be a “loyal yoke fellow” to at the moment?
Rejoice (v.4)
• How is it possible to rejoice in the Lord always?
• What truths about Jesus are you rejoicing in?
Gentleness (v.5)
• How does gentleness among Christians promote unity and standing firm together in the Lord?
• How does knowing the “Lord is near” motivate us to gentleness with one another?
Prayer Instead of Anxiety (vv.6–7)
• What is worrying you at the moment?
• What is Paul’s answer to worry? Are you doing it?
• When have you experienced the “peace that transcends all understanding” in your life recently? Where do you need it now?
Right Thinking (v.8)
• Weigh each of the words in v8 carefully. What specific things can you think of that fit each kind of thought Paul is encouraging in us?
• Which kind of bad thoughts do you find easiest to slip into?
• How does Paul suggest we deal with this?
Putting It into Practice (v.9)
• What is Paul concerned to prevent happening in this verse?
• Which of Paul’s practical steps to standing firm in the Lord do you need to address at the moment?
• How can you go about doing that this week?
Spend some time praying about the above.
